Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Mathematics Educator in Cape Town to inspire students and guide junior teachers within the mathematics department. You will deliver engaging high school mathematics instruction, shape curriculum development, and promote a supportive learning environment.

The role requires a PGCE or equivalent, a Bachelor’s in Mathematics, and at least seven years of high school teaching experience.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality mathematics lessons according to the prescribed curriculum for high school levels.
• Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students, providing constructive feedback.
• Develop innovative teaching methods and resources to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Lead and mentor a team of mathematics teachers, providing guidance on pedagogical strategies and curriculum implementation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field, with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience teaching mathematics at the high school level.
• Proven leadership experience or demonstrated potential for leadership within an educational institution.
• Deep knowledge of the South African National Curriculum and assessment standards.
• Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
