Placements24 is seeking a Lead Machine Learning Engineer with NLP expertise to join its R&D division in Centurion, Gauteng. You will lead a team of ML engineers and researchers, owning end-to-end NLP model development, deployment, and continuous optimization to scale production-ready AI.

Ideal candidates hold an advanced degree, deep NLP skills with Python and frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow, cloud experience, and strong leadership and communication abilities.

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced and visionary Lead Machine Learning Engineer with a specialization in Natural Language Processing (NLP) to join their advanced R&D division in Centurion, Gauteng. This senior position will lead a team of talented engineers and researchers in developing next-generation NLP solutions. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of machine learning models, from ideation and development to deployment and ongoing optimization. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of NLP techniques, a strong engineering background, and a passion for building scalable, production-ready AI systems. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of ML engineers and data scientists focused on NLP projects.
• Design, develop, and deploy state-of-the-art NLP models for tasks such as text classification, sentiment analysis, named entity recognition, and machine translation.
• Build robust and scalable data pipelines for training and evaluating NLP models.
• Implement and manage MLOps practices for efficient model deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
• Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders to define project requirements and roadmaps.
• Conduct research into novel NLP techniques and algorithms, and assess their applicability.
