Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Lead Geologist to oversee exploration programs and resource estimation in the Sandton area. This senior role supports strategic decision-making across mining and emerging energy projects.

The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams, supervise budgets, and produce reports aligning with JORC/NI 43-101 standards, while driving discovery and sustainable energy initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology or related Earth Science.
• 12+ years of progressive exploration experience in mining and energy.
• Expert in resource estimation, 3D modeling, and geophysical interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Lead geological exploration programs for mineral resources and potential energy sources (e.g., geothermal, critical minerals).
• Conduct detailed geological mapping, sampling, and data analysis to assess resource potential.
• Develop and manage exploration budgets, work plans, and field teams.
• Estimate and report on mineral and resource reserves according to industry standards (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101).
