Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Formulation Scientist to join its product development team in Polokwane, Limpopo. You will design, execute, and analyze formulation development studies for stable, effective dosage forms and ensure adherence to GMP.

With a Master's or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences and 4+ years of hands-on experience, you will collaborate with analytical development, process chemistry, and manufacturing to advance the company’s pharmaceutical pipeline.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Strong knowledge of dosage form design, excipient selection, and drug delivery systems.
• Experience with laboratory equipment used in formulation development and characterization.
• Understanding of GMP principles and regulatory requirements for drug product development.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop various pharmaceutical dosage forms (e.g., tablets, capsules, liquids, injectables).
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, including characterization of APIs and excipients.
• Optimize formulation processes and parameters to ensure stability, bioavailability, and manufacturability.
• Perform laboratory-scale formulation trials and scale-up activities.
• Analyze formulation data and prepare development reports.
• Collaborate with analytical development, process chemistry, and manufacturing teams.
