Position Overview
Redheads Engineering is assisting its client in the mining EPC projects industry to find a suitable person for the LEAD E&I Engineer Furnaces permanent role. The incumbent will be responsible for E&I and control systems project engineering, design, product development, procurement, installation and commissioning of global projects. The incumbent will be a highly skilled Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer with managerial capabilities to join our project engineering team specializing in the design and construction of industrial furnaces.
Technical Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement electrical and instrumentation systems for industrial furnace projects.
- Develop and review single‑line diagrams, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and P&IDs for control and automation systems.
- Specify and select electrical equipment, instrumentation, and control systems to meet industry standards.
- Develop PLC, SCADA, and DCS system requirements; collaborate with automation engineers for integration.
- Conduct calibration, configuration, and testing of instrumentation and control devices.
- Perform power distribution analysis, load calculations, and protection coordination.
- Develop and review Functional Design Specifications (FDS) aligned with project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, and local regulations.
Project & Managerial Responsibilities
- Lead E&I engineering activities from concept to commissioning within timelines and budget.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure system integration.
- Manage contractors, suppliers, and vendors ensuring quality and compliance.
- Conduct risk assessments and HAZOP reviews for safe design.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including specifications, reports, and progress updates.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to junior engineers and team members.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders, presenting technical solutions and addressing project concerns.
- Implement and monitor QA/QC processes for E&I deliverables.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering (Pr.Eng / Pr.Tech.Eng preferred).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in E&I and control systems engineering within project‑based environments.
- Proven project management and team leadership experience.
- Experience in industrial furnace, kiln, or heating system design and construction preferred.
- Hands‑on experience with PLC, SCADA, and DCS programming advantageous.
- Proficiency in interpreting E, C & I drawings; knowledge of EPLAN, Level 2 systems preferred.
- Commissioning experience advantageous.
- Proficiency in MS Office and engineering software.
Knowledge & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of HV, MV & LV electrical systems, control systems, and industrial instrumentation.
- Familiarity with hazardous area classification (ATEX, IECEx).
- Understanding of pricing, tendering, and budgeting principles.
