Job summary

Dixie Recruitment’s client is looking for an experienced, hands-on Workshop Foreman to oversee the day-to-day technical operations of a busy fleet workshop. The role suits a qualified Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Vehicle Technician who has progressed into supervision but still works on the shop floor when required.

The successful candidate will lead a team of diesel mechanics and auto electricians, ensuring maintenance, repairs, fault finding and preventative maintenance are completed safely and

Qualifications

• Diesel Mechanic / Motor Mechanic trade qualification.
• Trade Test Certificate as Diesel Mechanic or SA equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years' post-trade experience in heavy vehicle/fleet workshop.
• Supervisory or team leadership experience in a workshop Foreman or similar role.
• Experience working on heavy commercial vehicles/trucks.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Experience coordinating a team of technicians.
• Good understanding of preventative maintenance and workshop planning.
• Valid South African driver's license.
• Computer literacy and ability to complete workshop reports.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day technical operations of the fleet workshop.
• Lead and support a team of diesel mechanics and auto electricians.
• Ensure maintenance, repairs, fault finding and preventative maintenance are completed safely and efficiently.
• Set priorities on the shop floor and manage workflow.
• Maintain accurate workshop reports and maintenance records.
