Job summary

Lula Lula in Cape Town seeks a Principal Data Engineer to guide a data team through modernization in a fast-paced FinTech environment.

You will design, ingest, and maintain complex data pipelines using Azure, Snowflake, and modern ELT/ETL tooling, mentor engineers, and collaborate with architects to deliver scalable data solutions.

You will shape data governance, mentor talent, and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive high-impact results.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on Snowflake experience and performance tuning.
• Proficient in SQL with complex data transformations.
• Experience with ELT/ETL pipelines and real-time data processing.
• Strong scripting in Python/Java/Scala.
• Cloud experience on Azure, AWS, or GCP.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Data, Analytics, and ML Engineers in a cross-functional team.
• Develop greenfield projects on Azure and Snowflake.
• Ingest and assemble diverse data sets from APIs, files, and databases.
• Maintain operational and analytical data systems.
• Create robust ELT/ETL products for batch and near real-time pipelines.
• Mentor senior and junior team members and document work.
