Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Lead Chemical Engineer to oversee plant operations near Centurion. This senior role requires strong leadership, deep operational knowledge, and a proven track record in managing complex chemical processes to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable plant performance.

You will lead a team of engineers and operators, drive continuous improvement, ensure SHE compliance, and manage budgets and projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering; master's degree is a plus.
• 10+ years of experience in chemical plant operations, with supervisory exposure.
• Strong leadership, decision-making and budget control abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day chemical plant operations ensuring targets, safety standards, and environmental regulations are met.
• Develop strategies to improve plant efficiency, reduce costs and improve quality.
• Oversee maintenance, troubleshooting and optimization of process equipment and systems.
• Mentor a team of chemical engineers and operators, fostering accountability and learning.
• Conduct performance reviews and drive corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with SHE policies and procedures.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Chemical Engineer to oversee plant operations in their state-of-the-art facility near Centurion . This senior position demands strong leadership skills, extensive operational knowledge, and a proven track record in managing complex chemical processes. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the plant, leading a team of engineers and technicians, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This is a critical role for an individual passionate about operational excellence and committed to achieving superior results in a demanding industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the chemical plant, ensuring production targets, safety standards, and environmental regulations are met.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance plant efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality and consistency.
• Oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of all process equipment and systems.
• Manage and mentor a team of chemical engineers and operators, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
• Conduct regular performance reviews of plant operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, and environmental (SHE) policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering ; a Master's degree is a plus.
• 10+ years of experience in chemical plant operations , with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• In-depth knowledge of chemical process equipment, control systems, and safety protocols.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate technical teams effectively.
• Strong understanding of project management principles and budget control.
• Excellent decision-making capabilities and problem-solving skills under pressure.
