Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Automotive Electrician for a respected auto service provider in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will lead diagnostics, oversee electrical repairs, and mentor a team of electricians to ensure reliability across a diverse fleet.

Requirements include 5+ years in automotive electrical work, 2+ years in a lead role, and proficiency with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and CAN bus diagnostics. A valid driver's license and relevant trade qualifications are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years as Automotive Electrician, with ≥2 years in lead/supervisory role.
• Expertise diagnosing and repairing complex electrical/electronic systems.
• Proficiency with oscilloscopes, multimeters and diagnostic tools.
• Strong knowledge of CAN bus and vehicle communication protocols.
• Valid driver's license and relevant automotive electrical qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair automotive electrical systems (starting, charging, lighting, ignition, accessories).
• Interpret wiring diagrams, service manuals and diagnostic software.
• Diagnose and repair ECUs, sensors, actuators, CAN/LIN networks.
• Install and troubleshoot aftermarket electrical components.
• Conduct electrical system inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Lead and mentor a team of automotive electricians.
• Stay updated with latest automotive electrical tech and diagnostics procedures.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and workshop policies.
• Communicate findings clearly to service managers and team.
