About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Lead Automotive Diagnostic Technician to join their esteemed automotive service center in George, Western Cape . This is a critical role where you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex issues across a wide range of vehicle makes and models. As the lead technician, you will also play a key role in mentoring junior staff, ensuring the highest standards of service quality, and managing workflow within the workshop. You will utilize advanced diagnostic equipment and your extensive technical knowledge to identify root causes of mechanical and electrical faults. Key Responsibilities

• Perform in-depth diagnostics on a variety of vehicles, accurately identifying mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults using advanced tools and equipment.
• Interpret diagnostic data, technical service bulletins, and repair manuals to resolve complex vehicle issues.
• Conduct thorough inspections and provide detailed reports on vehicle condition and necessary repairs.
• Perform high‑quality repairs and maintenance, ensuring all work is completed efficiently and to manufacturer standards.
• Lead and mentor a team of automotive technicians, providing guidance, training, and support.
• Oversee workshop operations, ensuring efficient job allocation and turnaround times.

Requirements

• Trade Qualification as an Automotive Mechanic/Technician (e.g., NQF Level 3 or equivalent).
• Minimum of 8 years of experience as an Automotive Technician, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior diagnostic role.
• Proven expertise in diagnosing and repairing complex issues on a wide range of vehicle makes and models, including European and Asian manufacturers.
• Proficiency in using advanced diagnostic software and hardware (e.g., dealer‑level scan tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters).
• Strong understanding of engine management systems, ABS, airbags, climate control, and infotainment systems.
• Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced workshop environment.
• Strong commitment to quality workmanship and customer service.
