Introduction

We are seeking a skilled Laser Cutting Nesting Clerk to join our dynamic production team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for optimizing the laser cutting process by using SigmaNEST software to arrange parts efficiently on metal sheets — ensuring maximum material utilization, reduced waste, and smooth CNC operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Use SigmaNEST software to arrange and nest parts on material sheets for laser cutting, minimizing scrap and optimizing placement.
• Prepare CNC programs and nesting files for laser cutting machines, ensuring precise and efficient operations.
• Optimize cutting paths by considering laser travel paths, lead‑in/lead‑out points, and cutting speeds to reduce cycle time and avoid head crashes.
• Manage and track material inventory and assist with cost estimation and purchasing requirements.
• Collaborate closely with production teams to meet schedules, address material or design issues, and maintain workflow efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and adjust nesting layouts and programs to resolve production challenges.
• Ensure quality by maintaining proper part spacing, accounting for kerf width, and balancing heat distribution to ensure stable and accurate finished products.

Desired Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Nester in a manufacturing or sheet metal fabrication environment.
• Proven proficiency with SigmaNEST and Solid Edge software.
• Strong technical knowledge of laser cutting machines and CNC programming.
• Background in CAD drafting, mechanical design, or engineering technology is advantageous.
• Analytical problem‑solver with strong attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement.
• Experience with Accumatica and quoting/sales support will be a distinct advantage.
