Role Description: We’re looking for a South African Laravel Developer to join our team remotely on a project-by-project basis. You’ll be working on client-facing AI platform development — the kind of projects where businesses depend on the systems you build to make decisions, automate workflows, and operate more efficiently. You’ll work closely with our Head of Development to deliver clean, reliable, and high-performing software used by real clients across South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain full-stack web applications using the TALL stack (Laravel, Livewire, , Tailwind CSS)
• Integrate AI capabilities into web platforms using OpenAI and other third-party AI APIs
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Optimize performance across the stack, from queries to UX
• Troubleshoot and debug issues quickly and effectively
• Collaborate with product and data teams to design and ship new features
• Contribute to architectural discussions and process improvements

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science / Information Systems or equivalent hands‑on experience
• Strong command of Laravel, Livewire, Tailwind CSS, and solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals
• Strong MySQL and database design knowledge
• Familiarity with Git, version control workflows, and CI / CD pipelines
• Understanding of modern web app security, scalability, and optimization principles
• Good communicator, comfortable with async collaboration in a remote setup

Preferred Experience

• Proven experience building and maintaining full-stack web applications using the TALL stack
• Hands‑on experience integrating with AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic etc)
• Experience developing client-facing or B2B web applications
• Exposure to Agile workflows and modern project management tools (Linear, Jira, or Trello)
• Demonstrated ability to manage time, own projects, and deliver without heavy supervision
