Overview

Location: Gauteng with Travel to the Free State, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, North West and KZN provinces

Job Type: Permanent and hybrid working model. Some on- and off-site office work with frequent travel. The focus will be on sale of Animal Feed and other related products

Company Overview: A local Dairy company with their offices in Western Cape that specializes in cheese, butter and powdered goods production, including Agricultural Commodities, within the SADC regions, is looking to expand its team by appointing a confident and knowledgeable Agricultural sales representative.

Position Overview: The role will be based in Gauteng and requires a person with relevant experience in agricultural commodity sales, especially in dealing with the agricultural co-ops at branch and head office level as well as end users/farmers. The ideal candidate will have a strong marketing and sales personality, as the role involves maintaining excellent relations with suppliers and clients, as well as on-the-ground relationship development and management, which necessitates regular travel to the Free State, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and North West regions. The company provides a company car, petrol card, and all tools of the trade to support these travel requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handling of customer key accounts/relationships
  • Regular customer branch and head office visits/meetings as well as farms and veterinarian practices
  • Visiting end users to educate them on product benefits and uses
  • Assisting with the marketing function (advertising opportunities/trade shows)
  • Pricing negotiation with buying head office and direct customers
  • Ensuring customer orders are placed and stock rotation is well managed at customers
  • Assisting with co-ordinating orders with the Johannesburg depot in line with the order/delivery cycle
  • Follow-up on payments from customers where required
  • Keeping the business up to date with the general market and competitor activities
  • Proven experience in relationship management and development
  • Regular travel to the Free State, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and North West regions
  • Self-starter with the energy to work and grow with the company
Qualifications and Experience
  • Grade 12 with a post matric qualification in agriculture, veterinarian tech/assistant, pomology, microbiology, etc.
  • Passion for agriculture, efficiencies on farm as well as packhouse and manufacturing plants.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills
  • Proven experience in relationship management and development
  • Willingness to travel to the Free State, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and North West regions, with a company car and petrol card provided
  • Self-motivated and energetic
  • Intermediate level of ability with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Strong understanding of local farming systems and agricultural practices
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to identify customer needs and provide technical advice
  • Computer literate (MS Office, CRM software)
  • Self-motivated and target-driven with a passion for the agricultural sector

Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively.
