In This Role:
  • You will receive, prepare, and access veterinary samples for laboratory analysis and testing
  • You will process clinical samples for chemistry, hematology, endocrinology and cytology using automated and manual methods
  • You will perform a variety of customer service activities for internal and external customers, providing information, resolving issues and ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Responding to customer phone and other communications, addressing questions/issues/problems/concerns, etc.
  • You will have a workload which often includes samples from livestock and exotic species through regular zoo screening.
  • From day one, you'll have full autonomy in your work, but you'll also get full support when you need it.
What You Need to Succeed:
  • National Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • SAVC registration (Registered Veterinary Technologist) is mandatory
  • Min 3 years' professional experience in a similar position or veterinary practice desired
  • You will have practical experience in Urinalysis, Chemistry, Hematology, Endocrinology and Cytology
  • You are very comfortable with performing automated instrumentation or manual methods
  • You are someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
  • You are able to read, understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures
  • You have a positive attitude and love to bring this energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues, whether working independently or as a team contributor
  • You are able to prioritize and multi-task, have demonstrated excellent attention to detail on the job and can work reliably and precisely
  • Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position
Schedule:

This is a full-time permanent position (40h / week), willingness to work shifts and participate in the Saturday rotation. Adherence to attendance-related policies and expectations is critical to this position.
