Talent Leader at ENS | HR Professional & Admitted Attorney An opportunity for a Knowledge Management Lawyer has become available in our Knowledge Management Department based in Johannesburg or Cape Town .

This role is non-practicing and is an excellent opportunity for a passionate transactional lawyer who seeks to add value to the firm and practitioners.

The ideal candidate must have substantial practical experience as a generalist including litigation, commercial transactions, contract drafting, drafting of opinions and conducting legal research.

The candidate must be a self-starter, an analytical thinker and be able to take initiative.

The role will require the candidate to draft and review litigation templates, template agreements, research points of law, stay abreast of legal developments, recognise when changes in law will impact on templates and draft appropriate amendments to templates.

The candidate will be expected to work closely with other members of the knowledge management team as well as other practitioners within ENS in order to understand the transactional needs of the practitioners and to develop and implement a knowledge strategy and projects to meet the needs of various practice areas.

Responsibilities
  • Drafting litigation templates, template agreements and other templatised documents.
  • Drafting opinions.
  • Keeping abreast of and analysing changes to applicable legislation and current market developments and communicating developments in law.
  • Recognising changes that need to be made to master templates and documents and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge management database (i.e. the firm’s repository for the storage of templates, precedents and know-how across the firm).
  • Undertaking legal research on technical corporate law matters and drafting / updating templates in relation to those aspects of law.
  • Working closely with the knowledge management team as well as other practitioners in the firm.
  • Delivering appropriate internal training across all ENS offices on the use of the KM system and templates.
  • Developing essential knowledge resources which will improve the efficiency of the practitioners.
Requirements
  • Admitted Attorney with a strong academic record.
  • Minimum of 4 years' post articles experience in a law firm.
  • Working experience in various areas of law.
  • Experience in commercial transactions and litigious matters.
  • Tax law or regulatory law experience is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Exceptional organisational ability.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to self-start and work independently.
  • The ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Experience in document automation software is advantageous.
  • Able to work under pressure.
