An animal health multinational is seeking a Key Account Manager focused on Poultry to achieve sales targets and manage key accounts. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or equivalent, along with 3-5 years of experience in key account management. The candidate must possess a sound technical knowledge of poultry products and a proven track record in sales, while being willing to travel. This role is based in South Africa, Gauteng region.

Client

A large animal health multinational covering a broad range of animal health products – across Companion, Ruminants, Poultry, Pigs, Equine. This role falls within the Livestock portfolio under the Poultry and Pigs specialization and reports to the Commercial Manager – Pigs and Poultry and will work closely with the Marketing and Technical Manager

The Client is seeking a technical qualified and sound key account manager with demonstratable sales and key account track record in Poultry / Monogastric. This is a national role however preference is for the person to reside in Gauteng – as bulk of business is inland Gauteng, Northern Province, Mpumalanga etc

Key Account Management
  • Achieve sales targets and profitability objectives.
  • Understand the KA business, the customer needs and expectations.
  • Define, create and implement customized plans based on the needs and expectations of KAs.
  • Plan, coordinate and execute KA plans in close cooperation with Marketing, Technical and Commercial Managers.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams to analyze customer needs, find and seize new business opportunities and create better and untapped value-added services for KAs.
  • Maintain and develop effective long-term relationships with KAs and industry stakeholders.
Technical Skills
  • Work closely with the Technical Manager to develop a sound technical knowledge on all products and devices used in poultry.
  • Attend Conferences, study groups and actively self-study to increase industry knowledge.
  • Understanding of poultry physiology, immunology and production required.
Poultry portfolio management
  • Develop and implement plans to reach the sales targets.
  • Report on Sales, provide latest estimates, identify trends and provide input on product forecasts.
  • Identify market trends and gaps, collect data and report back to team.
Territory administration
  • Ensure that the client databases are kept up to date
  • Adhere to CRM requirements.
  • Fulfill Infield and customer related KPIs.
  • Monitor account status of KAs and orders to ensure superior service delivery.
  • Ensure all pharmacovigilance and product complaints are reported as per the company requirements
Job Requirements
  • Education: Minimum Bachelor Degree in Animal Science or equivalent degree (a Bachelor of Veterinary Science would be advantageous)
  • Experience in the poultry industry.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of key account management and sales experience.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales target.
  • Experience in animal health pharmaceutical industry advantageous
  • A valid driver's license
  • A willingness to travel both locally and internationally.
