Job summary

Origin Wine in Stellenbosch is seeking a finance professional to oversee planning, forecasting, procurement and stock costing, with emphasis on cost of sales and accurate monthly reporting. The role involves coordinating with overseas bottlers, ensuring correct procedures and KPI development to support commercial decisions.

Responsibilities include managing stock variances, advising on stock optimisation for overseas bottling, and ensuring reliable reporting with Qlik/ClickView.

Qualifications

• Relevant accounting qualification (CIMA/SAIPA if applicable) and SAICA/IRBA consideration.
• Proven experience in planning, procurement, costing and financial reporting.
• Minimum 3 years in a similar finance/controls role.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate planning and procurement with overseas bottlers to ensure cost accuracy.
• Manage monthly stock variances and cost of sales related to overseas bottling.
• Maintain up-to-date costings for overseas bottlings and related budgeting.
• Prepare and sign off on overseas invoices in collaboration with Group Commercial Head.
• Generate management information and KPIs using Qlik/ClickView for decision making.

Job description

Job Purpose:

Organises and Oversees the Group’s planning, forecasting, procurement and financial control processes, with a focus on stock management, costing and financial reporting to ensure accurate information and effective commercial decision-making.

Key Performance Areas:

1. Planning and Procurement

• Liaise with overseas bottlers to ensure latest production cost are always used
• Liaise with key personnel to ensure production is being moved to appropriate overseas bottlers
• Liaise with key personnel to ensure that NPD and Sales are aware and involved in key decision-making activities
• Liaise with key personnel to ensure bulk wine is being procured at the appropriate time and price.
• Manages and controls monthly variances in stock management and dry goods control and cost of sales as it relates to overseas bottling as required by Group Commercial Head

2. Financial and Administration Processes

• Advise with regards to correct procedures are followed for all planning and procurement of stock productions
• Advise on administration processes to ensure stock is optimised for overseas bottling
• Ensure that all controls are being followed and create required KPIs accordingly
• Ensure that Qlik is updated with all required information
• Ensure that the lowest logical level of stock and dry goods is being procured and kept.
• Liaise with Group Commercial head and IT head with key data requests
• Costings for overseas bottlings and related budget process
• Recoveries for overseas bottling
• Sign off on overseas invoices in collaboration with Group Commercial Head
• Ad hoc calculations to determine commercial decision-making.
• Coordinate customs & excise related matters to ensure cost effective import of wine into SA
• Checks and processes monthly inventory adjustments (Bulk wine, FG, Dry Goods, Returnables)
• Performs monthly costing and recovery journal entries to ensure accurate allocation and recovery of overheads.
• Ensures product specifications are accurately maintained in the system, with appropriate overheads and selling prices applied to support targeted gross profit margins.

3. Financial Administrative Support

• Provides management information to Group Head of Commercial Finance when required
• Control stock reports from ClickView and ensures it is accurate, robust and user friendly.
• Coordinate the reporting activities as it relates to bottling overseas
• From time to time lead tender processes
• Ensure global contracts align with commercial and financial strategic intent.

Job Requirements:

• Relevant Accounting Qualification
• Completed CIMA / SAIPA articles
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar position
