Our client in Bloemfontein is seeking a Web Developer to join their dynamic communication and media team. Minimum requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience (preferably in a web or digital media environment)
- Proficiency in Afrikaans and English
- Computer literate (MS Office + general technical ability)
- Experience using graphic software: Canva, Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop / InDesign
- Technical insight into domain and website management (Register Domain SA)
- MUST be discreet with confidential information
Experience in the following programs will be beneficial
- HTML, CSS, JavaScript (with VueJS or jQuery)
- PHP (Object-oriented) or Python
- MySQL
- Experience with Git repositories (GitKraken or SourceTree)
- Knowledge of web servers and WANP environments
Duties and responsibilities
- Basic web coding work (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Regular maintenance and updating of website content (WordPress + Elementor)
- Technical maintenance and optimization of the website, including:
Monitoring security, speed, and site performance
Regular backups of the website
Plugin and theme updates - Development of new website elements, pages, or functions according to communication and operational needs
- Design of visual content (for website, digital distribution, and print) using Canva or Adobe suites
- Video recording ("green screen backgrounds") and editing for online use (e.g., for social media or web)
- Collaboration with the communications team, other team members, and operations around content strategy, communication campaigns, and graphic support
- Newsletter: Collaborate with the communications team to compile, design, and distribute the biweekly newsletter both content-wise and visually
