This role will assist in the preparation and management of PAYE‑related matters, ensuring full compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations. The accountant will provide accurate, timely, and reliable tax information to both internal and external stakeholders, supporting effective decision‑making and regulatory adherence.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric or equivalent Senior Certificate
- Diploma or BCom in Taxation
- Minimum 3 years experience in PAYE, Income Tax, Value Added Tax and Tax Administration
- Proficiency in SAP and MS Excel
- Experience in VAT compliance & audit preparation

Job Specification
Audits
- Participate in financial and SARS audits, ensuring full cooperation and compliance throughout the process.
- Prepare SARS audit documentation and related supporting evidence with accuracy and diligence.
- Collate, organise, and maintain accurate records of all tax‑related documents and audit correspondence.
- Submit accurate and timely annual returns, ensuring all company information remains current and compliant.
- Verify financial data and maintain precise, well‑structured records of all tax documentation.
- Respond to audit queries promptly, providing complete, accurate, and well‑supported information.
Administration
- Maintain accurate, detailed records and ensure full compliance with SARS regulations.
- Provide reliable, well‑supported information for internal and external reporting purposes.
- Process journals efficiently and in accordance with accounting standards.
- Complete income tax and provisional tax returns for small entities with accuracy and timeliness.
- Monitor SARS compliance status across all entities and address issues proactively.
- Prepare and submit Value Added Tax (VAT) returns in line with statutory requirements.
- Collate and organise customs clearing documentation to support regulatory compliance.
Tax Compliance
- Review PAYE source codes to ensure accuracy and alignment with SARS requirements.
- Provide guidance on PAYE‑related matters and support system updates impacting tax compliance.
- Prepare provisional tax calculations for small entities and submit IRP6 returns accurately and on time.
- Compile VAT calculations and complete VAT return submissions for small entities in accordance with statutory deadlines.
- Manage and respond to PAYE verification requests from SARS, ensuring timely and complete resolutions.
- Assist with customs‑related queries from SARS and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and clarity.
Competencies
- Solid understanding of administrative, finance, and retail environments, enabling effective navigation of tax‑related processes.
- Sound technical knowledge of PAYE and related SARS processes and deliver accurate tax calculations and submissions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to support reporting, documentation, and analysis.
