A leading network communications company in South Africa is seeking a Junior Specialist Cyber Security Networks. The role involves supporting the Principal Specialist in implementing cyber security controls across various networks and requires a sound understanding of security frameworks. Candidates should have a relevant degree and 3-5 years of experience. This is a contract position for 6 months.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a cyber security role focused on delivering business outcomes for Enterprise and IP networks.
  • Strong understanding of cyber risk management and security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls.
  • In-depth knowledge of enterprise/fixed network technologies including CPE, IP Core, and associated network management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Principal Specialist in the design, development, and delivery of cyber security controls.
  • Conduct targeted risk assessments, collaborate with stakeholders, and provide detailed assurance reports.

Job description

Our client in the network communications sector is seeking a Junior Specialist Cyber Security Networks on contract duration of 6 months.

Role purpose :

Support the Principal Specialist in the design development and delivery of cyber security controls across mobile fixed satellite cloud and IoT networks ensuring resilience against evolving threats. Focus on Enterprise and Business environments across all Group markets contributing to initiatives for Enterprise Customer Premise Equipment IP Core Networks Network Management Systems Office Connectivity Monitoring & Analytics and Measurement & Assurance. Apply subject matter expertise to maintain secure configurations and compliance with ISO27001 NIST and regulatory requirements. Conduct targeted risk assessments collaborate with stakeholders and provide detailed assurance and progress reports to the Programme Lead. Assist in implementing monitoring and measurement processes to track security posture. Actively support the Principal Specialist in technical delivery workstream execution and governance activities while ensuring updates and insights are provided to guide decision-making.

  • Matric / Grade 12 essential
  • 3-year Degree or relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or related field
  • Minimum of 3 5 years of experience in a cyber security role focused on delivering business outcomes for Enterprise and IP networks
  • Strong understanding of cyber risk management and security frameworks such as NIST ISO 27001 and CIS Controls
  • In-depth knowledge of enterprise / fixed network technologies including CPE IP Core and associated network management systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify analyse and resolve complex security issues in large-scale network environments
