Job summary

Placements24 is partnering with a budding tech startup in Tembisa seeking a Junior Software Engineer. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to end-to-end software development in a fast-paced team environment.

You will collaborate with senior engineers, write maintainable code, participate in testing, and learn modern practices while building a solid foundation for a career in software engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Foundational knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, JavaScript).
• Basic understanding of SDLC concepts.
• Familiarity with Git or similar version controls.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
• Understanding of basic data structures and algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and development of software modules under guidance of senior engineers.
• Write clear, maintainable code following coding standards.
• Participate in unit and integration testing to ensure quality.
• Help identify and resolve defects and issues.
• Collaborate with team on feature development and bug fixes.
• Contribute to software design and process documentation.
• Learn and apply new technologies as required by projects.
• Support deployment and maintenance of applications.
• Participate in team meetings and code reviews.
