Job summary

SOLIDitech in Cape Town seeks a Software Engineer to design and develop high-quality Java applications. You will work with a team on cutting-edge technologies, focusing on scalable, robust software and customer-focused solutions.

You should have a relevant degree or 3+ years commercial development experience, strong Java skills, and familiarity with HTML/CSS/JS, SQL, ORM, and common Java servlet containers. A collaborative, detail-oriented mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of the Java programming language/syntax
• Exposure to HTML/CSS and Javascript
• Experience with SQL and RDBMS concepts and design
• Exposure to Object Relational Mapping (e.g. Hibernate, EJB3)
• Exposure to Java servlet containers (Tomcat, GlassFish, Jetty)
• Experience with Java IDEs (Eclipse, IntelliJ, NetBeans)
• Practical database experience (MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL)
• Good English writing capabilities and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-quality Java applications using cutting edge technologies for Object Relational Mapping, Caching and Service-Oriented Architecture
• Work with our experienced Software Engineers and learn from our dynamic team
• Learn about implementing scalable, robust, maintainable software using design patterns and object-oriented principles

Education

Relevant degree in Computer Science or related field (or 3+ years commercial development experience)
