This is a permanent, on‑site role for a Junior SHEQ Officer located in Kempton Park.
The Junior SHEQ Officer will be responsible for implementing and maintaining safety, health, environmental, and quality compliance at the job site. Daily tasks include: conducting risk assessments, monitoring safety protocols, ensuring regulatory compliance, providing safety training, and preparing reports. The role will also involve coordinating with various teams to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
Assist in implementing SHEQ systems, policies, and site‑specific safety plans for high‑risk work. Participate in incident / accident investigations, assist in root cause analysis, and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Maintain and update safety files, risk assessments, method statements, and permits‑to‑work. Support SHEQ inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness training for site teams and contractors. Monitor PPE compliance and safe use of specialized equipment (harnesses, lifelines, blasting gear, etc.).
Assist in conducting internal audits against quality standards, collect and maintain quality records and documentation. Ensure availability and inspection of first aid kits, firefighting equipment, and rescue gear pile weekly and monthly SHEQ performance reports (incidents, near‑misses, audit findings).
Track trends and highlight areas needing improvement. Assist with preparing for client audits, legal inspections, and ISO certification requirements (ISO
Act as a point of contact for SHEQ issues raised by employees, clients, and subcontractors. Escalate non‑compliance issues to the SHEQ Manager / Operations Manager. Maintain electronic and physical SHEQ filing systems.
At least 1 year of SHEQ experience in construction or industrial environments. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to sites. Relevant certifications in SHEQ management.
