Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Senior Rock Engineer with geotechnical investigations , slope stability analyses , and ground control monitoring .
- Conduct strata control inspections , risk assessments , and incident investigations related to ground conditions.
- Support the design, implementation, and monitoring of rock engineering controls in line with legal and company standards.
- Prepare and maintain Codes of Practice (COPs) , procedures, and technical reports.
- Contribute to blasting assessments , excavation design , and continuous improvement initiatives for ground stability.
- Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality (SHERQ) systems.
Minimum Requirements
- BSc / BTech / National Diploma in Rock Engineering , Mining Engineering , or Geology .
- Strata Control Certificate
- Rock Mechanics Certificate
- 25 years experience in strata control or rock engineering, preferably within an open-pit mining environment .
- Sound knowledge of slope monitoring , geotechnical data analysis , and numerical modeling tools (e.g., Rocscience, Surpac, AutoCAD).
- Understanding of blasting techniques and their impact on rock stability.
