Junior Quantity Surveyor

Junior QS vacancy for a qualified QS with 1 to 2 years experience to work in Orania, Free State. As a Quantity Surveyor (QS) in South Africa, your primary responsibility will be to manage all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. You will ensure that these projects are completed within budget and to the client’s specifications. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities. Additionally, the ideal candidate must be proficient in Afrikaans and willing to relocate as necessary.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects based on architectural drawings, specifications, and other relevant documents.
  • Measurement of Building Quantities: Accurately measure building quantities for bill preparation and final accounts.
  • Drafting Bills of Quantities: Prepare comprehensive Bills of Quantities to detail materials, labour, and other project costs.
  • Site Visits and Measurements: Conduct regular site visits and measurements to ensure accuracy in project assessments and valuations.
  • Preparing Valuations: Compile valuations for the issue of interim payment certificates, assessing completed work for payment certification.
  • Assisting with Cost Management: Support in the cost management of construction projects, monitoring expenses and ensuring adherence to financial constraints.
  • Final Accounts: Prepare and conclude final accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
  • B.Sc (Hons) degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Professional accreditation or membership with the South African Council for Quantity Surveyors (SACQSP).
  • Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
