A recruitment agency in South Africa is seeking a Payroll / HR Officer to manage payroll and HR administration at their Centurion office. Responsibilities include payroll processing, HR record maintenance, and finance support. The ideal candidate should have a Grade 12 qualification with Mathematics and relevant HR qualifications. Familiarity with VIP software is essential. This role provides an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team in the financial services sector.
Our client in the financial services industry is currently looking for a Payroll / HR Officer based at their head office in Centurion, Johannesburg to join their dynamic team.
Payroll Administration: Administer the VIP payroll system and maintain staff files. Prepare monthly payroll and initiate payments. Reconcile and update payroll reports monthly. Update and deliver salary reports. Submit UIF declarations and EMP & EMP to SARS. Handle payroll and EasyFile queries. Administer payroll documents and payslips. Manage ESS (Employee Self Service) platform. Liaise with SAGE VIP regarding queries, system errors, and updates. Administer tax certificates and assist with payroll‑related audit queries. Send assessment reports / invoices to SATU for payroll contribution balancing.
Human Resources Administration: Administer leave records and yearly statutory submissions. Maintain accurate and confidential HR records. Respond to staff queries and provide HR‑related support. Manage job specifications and performance management processes. Coordinate training and development activities. Administer skills development programmes and submissions (INSETA, WSP / ATR). Optimize Skills Development Levies and training costs. Manage onboarding and exit processes. Administer IOD claims via Workman’s Compensation system. Handle employment equity and return of earnings submissions. Conduct credit and criminal verification checks via MIE. Conduct interviews and assist with recruitment processes. Administer job profiles and performance appraisals.
Finance Support: Perform daily routine financial transactions. Capture cash book transactions and journal entries for PIPF, Metropolitan, and DCISA. Process payments to suppliers and statutory payments. Maintain general ledger entries and bank reconciliations. Assist external auditors during annual audits. Manage petty cash.
Educational Requirements: Grade 12 with Mathematics. Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources. Experience in payroll administration using VIP software. Knowledge of basic accounting principles. Familiarity with relevant legislation: Income Tax Act (Seventh Schedule), Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
