Job title: Junior Payroll Administrator

Discover the Role

  • Support the payroll team in providing high-quality client service, producing service deliverables for a portfolio of clients.
  • This includes data preparation, assisting in payroll client administration, and acting as the day-to-day client contact to meet stakeholders’ and clients’ expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Input accurate information into the payroll system.
  • Support clients with service delivery matters.
  • Prepare client work according to agreed terms.
  • Create and maintain relevant records.
  • Escalate issues to senior team members when necessary.
  • Support senior team members as required.
  • Respond to stakeholders promptly with accurate information.
  • Attend client meetings as needed.
  • Ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Liaise with Tax Authorities (SARS).
  • Prepare and submit returns, submissions, accounts, and reports.
  • Assist with EMP501 reconciliation.
  • Advise clients on local legislation when necessary.
  • Support the preparation of reports.
  • Identify and report errors, raising concerns with the relevant manager.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for audits.

Key Requirements

  • Payroll Diploma, Finance Diploma, or Finance Degree.
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience in payroll.
  • Bookkeeping or finance administration background is ideal.
  • Understanding of basic payroll principles.
  • Proficiency in Excel functions like Vlookups, Pivots, and IF statements.
  • Sage 300 experience is mandatory.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
