Job summary

A leading luxury hospitality company is seeking a Marine or Electrical Engineer willing to relocate to Central London. The role involves servicing and diagnosing diesel and electrical engines, overall boat maintenance, and ensuring the health and safety of clients and crew. The ideal candidate will possess strong engineering skills and be a team player, ready to work flexible hours during events. Previous marine industry experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Servicing and diagnosing engines as part of mechanical/electrical engineering tasks.
  • Providing overall boat maintenance, including winterising and plumbing.
  • Implementing health and safety measures on board.
  • Driving vessels under the supervision of the Captain.

REPORTS TO: Marine Director. Our luxury hospitality client specialises in operating a unique fleet of architect‑designed river yachts, providing exclusive venues for high‑end events on an iconic European waterway.

They offer tailored experiences, from fine dining to large corporate receptions, set against the stunning backdrop of world‑famous city landmarks. Joining this team provides a dynamic opportunity to blend five‑star service with maritime operations, creating uniquely memorable and high‑profile experiences. The ideal candidate will be dynamic and enthusiastic, with a keen interest and strong technical knowledge of diesel and electrical motors, and a passion for vessels and water.

You will perform routine maintenance, ensuring hybrid and diesel engines are well‑maintained before, during, and after events, and implement preventive measures to prioritise the health and safety of clients and crew.

Responsibilities
  • Mechanical/Electrical engineering: servicing and diagnosing engines.
  • Provide overall boat maintenance services across a wide range of marina support (e.g., winterising, plumbing, and heating systems).
  • Experience with PLC controllers, high‑voltage/DC charging, electrical/power distribution, converters/inverters.
  • Take responsibility for health and safety.
  • Drive vessels under the supervision of the Captain.
  • Lead and inspire colleagues in developing their technical knowledge.
  • Interest in spending time on the Thames, London.
Requirements
  • Experience with diesel‑driven engine or generator maintenance.
  • Mechanical and Electrical engineering experience.
  • Living within commuting distance of Central London.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Willing to work either 2 days on/2 days off, with some evenings during events.
  • Previous marine industry experience is preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to work in the UK legally (no sponsorship).
