Job summary

A leading reinsurance firm in Johannesburg is seeking a Junior Manager and a Senior Officer for their Finance Department. Candidates should hold a relevant degree and possess necessary skills such as proficiency in Excel and understanding of accounting principles. Both positions require completing SAICA articles. Qualifications

  • Candidate who has completed SAICA articles with ITC/IAC or reinsurance experience for Junior Manager.
  • Candidate who has completed SAICA articles with no board exams required for Senior Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Review and post payment batches in the Finance module.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly journal entries.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly management and regulatory reports.

Skills

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Sound knowledge of accounting principles
Hands-on experience with accounting software

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Review and post payment batches in the Finance module.
  • Review the general ledger and trial balance to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information.
  • Assist in the preparation and / or review of monthly journal entries.
  • Perform statutory payment reconciliations including VAT 201 EMP 201 and Withholding Tax (WHI) returns.
  • Prepare VAT computations and related schedules.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly management and regulatory reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments during monthly and quarterly reporting cycles.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Liaise with auditors and respond to audit queries.
  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
  • Assist in and / or the preparation of financial statements in accordance with applicable IFRS.
  • Perform additional accounting and finance duties as assigned.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • For both the Positions : . degree from an accredited college or university.
  • For Junior Manager : Candidate who has completed SAICA articles with ITC / IAC / Candidate whohas completed SAICA articles with reinsurance experience.
  • For Senior Officer : Candidate whohas completed SAICA articles no board exams required
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software; working knowledge of an ERP system is highly desirable.

  • Highly adaptive and able to work effectively in changing environments.
  • Ability to work quickly and with little to no oversight.

Package & Remuneration

Candidates will be on probation for first three months and performance will be reviewed after three months and then if deemed fit will beoffered permanent job.

Remuneration will be as per company policy and will commensurate with the candidates qualifications and experience.
