Mission for the Role

To support the efficient operation and upkeep of all Nox Cape Town properties through high-quality, timely maintenance and repair work. This includes reactive, preventative, and inspection-driven maintenance across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general property systems. The Junior Maintenance Technician will execute tasks as assigned, escalate complex issues, and maintain Nox brand standards for safety, functionality, and guest readiness. Success in this role means minimal downtime, consistently functioning property systems, and high-quality workmanship across the portfolio.

Outcomes & Key Accountabilities
  • Execution of Maintenance Tasks: All assigned maintenance jobs—whether reactive, preventative, or identified through inspections—are completed to Nox standards, on time, and within scope. Escalations are logged promptly, and work is accurately reported.
  • Preventative Maintenance Compliance: Follow schedules for inspections and routine maintenance to minimise reactive repairs. Identify recurring or high-risk issues and report to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair minor plumbing, electrical, and HVAC issues. Escalate complex or high-risk problems as needed. Maintain accurate records of work completed.
  • Property Condition & Quality Standards: Ensure all work aligns with Nox brand standards, including safety, functionality, and guest-readiness. Maintain clean and organised workspaces and tools.
  • Team Collaboration & Communication: Provide timely updates to the Maintenance Manager and colleagues on task progress and completion. Collaborate effectively across departments to support property readiness.
  • Use of Data & Reporting: Record completed tasks and maintenance logs in Nox systems accurately. Contribute observations that help reduce recurring issues and improve maintenance processes.

Task Completion Rate
Target: ≥ 95% of assigned tasks completed within timeframe. Measures efficiency, responsiveness, and reliability.

Preventative Maintenance Compliance
Target: 100% of scheduled preventative checks completed. Reduces reactive maintenance and ensures system longevity.

Quality of Work
Target: ≤1 repeat issue per 20 work orders. Ensures accuracy and high-quality workmanship.

Response Time to Urgent Call-Outs
Target: ≤2 hours for critical issues. Protects guest experience and property value.
