Background
  • Our client is an awar-winning global research organisation based in Durban - KZN.
  • We seek a Research Assistant to join a study team of public health lawyers to work on projects related to alcohol laws good governance and pandemic preparedness laws in multiple jurisdictions.
Minimum Requirements
  • LLB Degree or Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences or related field
  • 1-2 years of research experience in public health policy or law legal epidemiology or qualitative research
  • Interest in policy-relevant research and / or engagement with government
Personal Qualities and Competencies
  • Ability to work across disciplines and translate findings for public health and policy audiences
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Analytical ability with high attention to detail
  • Able to work under pressure in a changing environment
  • Managing time and work / deadline drivenExcellent written verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct and analyse qualitative interviews with key stakeholders
  • Produce reports on laws or policies within project areas
  • Contribute to the drafting and submission of high-quality manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals (both public health and legal scholarship)
  • Present findings at academic conferences workshops and stakeholder engagement forums.
  • Provide research implementation and administrative support including assisting with ethics applications
