REQUIREMENTS :
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Degree or High National Diploma in Microbiology, Food Technology, or Biotechnology
- 1-2 years of experience in a similar role
- Extensive Laboratory Knowledge
- Extensive chemical analysis knowledge specific to wine quality (pH, SO₂, VA, alcohol)
- Working Knowledge of Cellar / wine production process
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
- Attention to detail, logical thinking, self-motivated, passionate, diligent work attitude, analytical skills, and excellent report writing and communication skills
- Own transport and ability to work flexible hours
DUTIES :
- Perform analysis using standard methods and support in-process production. Ensure timely, accurate, and valid laboratory analysis within required specifications. Make up accurate standard solutions and verify through standardisation and quality control checks. Ensure all equipment complies with SANS 17025 and GLP. Ensure chemicals are correctly stored and identified. Use laboratory equipment correctly. Troubleshoot analysis discrepancies. Verify and monitor equipment records. Analyze data to identify quality risks. Complete all quality records accurately.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment to ensure reporting of accurate and reliable results. Verify equipment functionality and report irregularities. Use and store laboratory equipment safely. Manage equipment reliability.
- Contribute to problem solving from a quality perspective. Ensure corrective actions are verified and closed. Evaluate methods and processes for improvements. Investigate complaints and non-conformances, reporting findings.
- Participate in drafting, reviewing, and completing QMS procedures for laboratory processes. Assist in quality assessments and audits. Participate in SANAS system activities, including acting as a Technical Signatory or internal auditor if required. Engage in technical research projects and assist during audits.
- Assist in evaluating supplier performance. Maintain proper stock levels of chemicals, media, and consumables, communicating order levels as needed.
- Support health, safety, and housekeeping procedures. Maintain hygiene standards. Comply with safety policies. Maintain personal hygiene and a clean work environment.
