Introduction

Position Overview We are seeking a motivated and technically inclined Junior Technician to join our IT support team.

In this entry-level role, you will assist in providing onsite and remote technical support to clients, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring smooth operation of computer systems and networks.

This position is ideal for individuals starting their career in IT who are eager to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.

The role requires a combination of technical knowledge, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to travel to client locations as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities Technical Support and Troubleshooting : Diagnose and resolve basic hardware, software, and network problems for end‑users, including desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.

This may involve reinstalling operating systems, updating drivers, or configuring network settings.

Installation and Configuration : Assist in setting up new computer systems, software applications, and network equipment.

Ensure all installations comply with company standards and security protocols.

On‑site Visits : Travel to client sites to perform repairs, upgrades, or maintenance tasks that cannot be handled remotely.

This includes physical inspections of equipment and cabling.

Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate records of service calls, inventory, and issue resolutions using ticketing systems.

Prepare reports on recurring issues to help identify patterns for preventive measures.

Customer Service : Communicate effectively with clients to understand their issues, provide clear explanations of solutions, and offer basic training on IT best practices.

Team Collaboration : Work closely with senior technicians and other team members to escalation complex issues and contribute to team knowledge sharing sessions.

Preventive Maintenance : Perform routine checks on systems to prevent downtime, such as updating antivirus software, backing up data, and cleaning hardware components.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Required Qualifications and Skills Education and Certifications : Beneficial, CompTIA A+ and Network+ (N+) certifications, or demonstrate equivalent experience through prior roles or hands‑on projects that align with these competencies (e.g., proven ability in hardware assembly, OS troubleshooting, and basic networking).

Experience : 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in IT support or a similar technical role. Equivalent experience could include internships, personal projects, or volunteer work involving computer repair and network setup.

Technical Skills :

  • Proficiency in Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (e.g., TCP / IP, Wi‑Fi setup, routers).
  • Familiarity with common tools like mustimeters, cable testers, and diagnostic software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and remote support tools (e.g., TeamViewer or similar).

Soft Skills : Strong problem‑solving abilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with a customer focused mindset.

Other Requirements : Must have a reliable personal vehicle and a valid driver's license for travel to client sites. This requirement is non‑negotiable due to the onsite nature of the role. Proof of insurance and a clean driving record may be required.

Preferred Qualifications : Certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or Microsoft Certified : Azure Fundamentals, Google Workspace etc would be beneficial. Experience with mobile device support (e.g., iOS / Android troubleshooting).

Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., PowerShell or Batch scripts) for automation tasks.

Package & Remuneration

Work Environment Schedule : Fulltime position with standard business hours (Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM), plus occasional on‑call duties for emergencies.

Location : Based in Centurion, Pretoria with frequent travel to stores across South‑Africa.

Compensation : TBC.
