Junior Interior Designer

Job category: Junior Interior Designer | Job type: 12‑month fixed‑term contract | Location: Johannesburg / Waterfall (from July) | Start date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities
  • Knowledge and experience in delivering commercial, residential and hospitality projects
  • To liaise with clients in order to understand the brief, interpret the brief into design and documentation using visual, written, oral and Revit skills
  • To assist with graphic design work and 3D visualisations for presentation purposes
  • Conceptualise, detail and document drawings that accurately reflect the interior design concept so that the sub‑contractors are clear on what is expected of them
  • The ability to work with professional teams, internal teams, contractors and consultants
  • Attend sites to ensure that actual construction on site is working to plan; potential problems are proactively identified and rectified so that the project is not delayed and client expectations are met
  • To allocate and plan areas within the premises that meet the specifications of the client requirements
  • Full involvement in multiple commercial, residential and hospitality projects from initiation to finalisation
  • Uses appropriate methods and interpersonal styles to develop, motivate and guide the project team
Minimum Criteria and Requirements of Applicants
  • Relevant qualification (B. Arch Interior / B. Sc. Interior Arch / B. Tech Interior Arch / M. Interior Arch) required
  • Minimum of 4 years’ interior design experience
  • Advanced in use of Revit (certification of such preferable)
  • Complete B+P Revit Assessment with minimum 70% score
  • Sketches to be done in Revit and by hand
  • Knowledge of programs such as InDesign, Photoshop, SketchUp, Enscape and Lumion required
  • Knowledge of project management useful
  • Experience in furniture selection and procurement and fabric selection
  • Medial and institutional experience will be beneficial
  • Impeccable record‑keeping processes
  • A high standard of communication skills and attention to detail required
  • A commitment to providing excellent client service through efficiency and the quality in production of work
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Experience resolving problems and making decisions when required
  • Plans and organises workflow and resources to ensure commitments and deadlines are met
  • Builds working relationships in the project team and with clients
  • Sets a positive example and displays visible loyalty to the company
