Job summary

A leading agricultural certification service provider in South Africa is seeking individuals for roles focused on inspection and quality certification in the perishable products sector. Candidates should have a tertiary qualification in an agricultural discipline and strong communication and customer service skills. Experience in cold chain operations is advantageous. This role offers the opportunity to enhance the credibility of South African exports through compliance and quality assurance as part of a dedicated team.

Responsibilities

• Apply roles in inspection, food safety, and export certification.
• Coordinate compliance with prescribed processes related to agricultural standards.
• Ensure competency levels within the Harmonization framework.
• Inspect and certify perishable products and their handling.
• Ensure adherence to service level agreements.
• Perform administrative tasks and reporting related to services.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Applying roles in Inspection, Cold Chain, Food Safety and Export Certification related to the specified geographical area.
• Coordinating compliance to prescribed processes, procedures and protocols within the framework of the Agricultural Product Standards Act.
• Ensuring adequate competency levels within the Harmonization framework.
• Inspection and certification of perishable products.
• Inspection of the handling, storage and transport of perishable products.
• Coordinating compliance to prescribed processes, procedures and protocols within the framework of the Perishable Products Export Control Board Act.
• Ensure correct application of quality management systems, procedures and work instructions.
• Ensure adherence to Service Level agreements.
• Ensuring effective two-way communication internal and external.
• Administrative tasks and reporting related to the execution of services.
• Accept the responsibility of continuous self-improvement in their area of responsibility according to the PPECB performance system.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in an agricultural discipline.
• Candidates with less experience, but with proven outstanding performance will be considered in line with PPECB’s EE policy.
• Experience and Knowledge on the relevant Products and cold chain disciplines will be advantageous.
• Operational planning and organizing skills.
• Good communication skills and a team player.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Proven track record of taking ownership enabled by responsible and accountable behaviour.
• A valid code 08 driving license and own reliable vehicle will be a requirement for doing the job.
