Junior HR Officer

This role supports the HR Supervisor and broader HR team with a variety of administrative and operational duties. It plays a critical role in ensuring accurate record-keeping, supporting employee engagement processes, and ensuring compliance with company policies and labor legislation. You'll work on everything from onboarding to absenteeism management and disciplinary processes.

About You
  • 3+ years of experience in HR administration or officer-level roles.
  • Relevant HR qualification (B.Com or National Diploma in HR).
  • Strong working knowledge of BCEA, LRA, EEA, and OSHA.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Knowledge of Sage 300 People, ESS, and TracTech is a plus.
  • High attention to detail, administrative accuracy, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Confident communicator with assertiveness and discretion.
  • Able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Must have own transport and flexibility to work beyond standard hours when needed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with onboarding and induction processes for new hires.
  • Maintain and update physical and digital employee records.
  • Track and process absenteeism, leave, and related HR queries.
  • Support employees and managers with first-line HR queries.
  • Assist with investigations, grievance handling, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Compile and submit statutory HR reports and statistics.
  • Handle IOD reporting, medical bookings, and claims follow-ups.
  • Coordinate alcohol/drug testing procedures with third-party providers.
  • Support various HR projects and administrative functions.
