Exploration focus

Exploration is in Ivanhoe's DNA, with active projects in 5 jurisdictions; the newest expansion is into the Chu Sarysu basin of Kazakhstan, which is where this job will be focused.

Copper exploration is also focused on the Democratic Republic of Congo and exploration on the Western Foreland; in Angola and Zambia searching for the western extension of the Copperbelt; and additionally in South Africa we are exploring for mineralisation associated with the Northern Limb of the Bushveld Complex and its potential feeder at Mokopane.

Role Overview

The Junior Geoscience Data Analyst supports the day-to-day management, quality, and usability of geological data across multiple exploration and mining sites.

Working under the guidance of the Senior Database Geologist, this role is responsible for supporting the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Ivanhoe Mines acQuire GIM Suite data management solution.

The incumbent will assist with technical support, change‑management processes, and governance documentation to ensure robust and reliable geological data handling.

Requirements
  • BSc Honours : Geology, BSc.
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS, Earth Sciences, or a closely related field)
  • At least 1-3 years of experience in an exploration or mining environment with exposure to database systems (acQuire or equivalent), GIS platforms and/or data reporting tools such as PowerBI or Tableau.
  • SACNASP registration preferred

  • Good analytical skills, attention to data quality, consistency, and process accuracy.
  • Communicate clearly both verbally and written.
  • Must be self‑motivated, efficient, and innovative / pro‑active.
  • Strong organization and time‑management skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Cross‑functional abilities (Production Geology and Exploration function).
  • Database Management (acQuire).
  • Basic MSSQL knowledge.

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to :
  • Geological Data Administration (acQuire GIM Suite)
  • Provide full database support for sites without dedicated database personnel, including running imports, weekly exports, managing validations and business logic within acQuire.
  • Support administration of acQuire workspaces across Ivanhoe Mines' exploration and mining sites to ensure data integrity, consistency and timely availability of geological data to all stakeholders.
  • Administer the internal change‑management platform for change requests.
  • Triage incoming change requests, communicate with requestors, apply approved changes, and assist in testing and validating updates before deployment.
Technical Support & Licensing

Provide in‑house and continuous technical support on acQuire to the Ivanhoe Mines geoscience teams.

Support and facilitate the central license administration of Ivanhoe Mines' acQuire orgadmin, ensuring continued access to the data management solution.

Data Governance & Documentation

Document and update critical data management workflows and processes (i.e. data validations, data loading, integrations, data dictionaries in acQuire); perform document review, manage access to documentation for corporate team, update onboarding documents for supporting new team members.

Help maintain a central repository of data management policies, configuration logs and user guidance.
