Role Purpose

The Junior Financial Analyst will support the MDS Finance team by assisting in financial analysis, reporting, modelling, and data-driven decision-making. This entry-level role is designed for a recent Actuarial Science graduate with strong analytical skills and a passion for financial insights, modelling, and business intelligence. The analyst will contribute to financial processes, performance tracking, and the development of tools that enhance operational efficiency and strategic planning. This position is ideal for an actuarial graduate who is passionate about using modelling, analytics, and automation to strengthen financial planning, performance management, and insight in an inter-disciplinary environment.

Requirements

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science required.

(Honours preferred).

Strong academic performance with exposure to finance, statistics, or data science.

Experience
Internship or academic project experience in financial analysis, modelling, or data analytics (advantageous).

Familiarity with tools such as Excel, SQL, PowerBI, Python, or R (preferred but not required).

Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Analysis & Reporting
Assist in preparing financial reports and variance analyses.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
Reconcile financial data and assist with general ledger allocations.
Participate in monthly and quarterly reporting cycles.

Modelling & Scenario Analysis
Build and maintain basic financial models to support decision-making.
Conduct scenario testing and sensitivity analysis for remuneration and incentive structures.
Assist in valuation and profitability modelling under guidance.
Ensure that all assigned deliverables are completed accurately and within relevant deadlines.

Data Analytics & Business Intelligence
Extract, clean, and transform data for analysis using Excel, SQL, or BI tools.
Support the development of dashboards and automated reports.
Identify trends and anomalies in financial and operational data.

MIS & Data Governance
Assist in maintaining data integrity and supporting ETL processes.
Contribute to the enhancement of data architecture and reporting frameworks.
Collaborate with BI and IT teams to improve data accessibility and usability.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Respond to internal queries with professionalism and accuracy.
Build relationships with finance, actuarial, and business teams.
