Job Role

The Junior Financial Analyst will support the Cellular (Airtime) team in analysing financial data, preparing reports, and assisting in day-to-day operational requirements.

This position is ideal for individuals looking to start their career in finance and gain valuable commercial experience in financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic planning.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Conduct variance analysis to compare actual results to forecasts and budgets.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior management.
  • Determine key financial KPIs.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the budgeting process by gathering data, inputting figures, and analyzing trends.
  • Assist in creating and updating financial forecasts based on current data and market trends that need to be communicated timeously with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stock Management: SKU availability and stock levels, monthly stock reconciliations and stock ageing management.
  • Data Collection and Management: Gather financial and operational data from various departments and ensure its accuracy and completeness. Maintain and update financial databases and spreadsheets.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor performance. Assist in performing financial analysis related to specific projects or business initiatives.
  • Support Functions: Provide support to financial analysts and finance managers/accountants as needed. Assist in special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis requests.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Commerce degree (BCom).
  • Eligible to register as a CA(SA)/ newly qualified CA(SA) (advantageous).
  • A minimum of 3 years' article experience (signed‑off).
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and advanced Excel skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in the latest Microsoft applications including Advanced Excel and PowerBI (preferred).
  • Understand and develop pricing structures to enable maximum profitability through indexing interest rates payable, receivable, time value of money.
  • Ability to present data and findings clearly and concisely.
  • Build strong relationships: work closely with team members within the department and build sound relationships, communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand their needs and provide appropriate analytical support.
  • Effective communication skills: good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical skills: strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Commercial Awareness: awareness of how financial analysis supports business decisions and strategic planning.
  • Time management: ability to prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently.
