Duties & Responsibilities

Our client is a diversified group with operations across multiple industries, recognised for its professional standards, collaborative culture, and commitment to developing young finance talent.

They are looking for a Junior Financial Accountant (SAIPA Trainee) to join their Group Finance team and build a strong foundation in financial governance, reporting, and compliance. In this role, you’ll gain hands‑on experience across a wide range of finance functions — from SARS submissions and secretarial filings to internal controls, audit preparation, and payroll processing.

You’ll work closely with senior professionals who will guide you as you progress toward your SAIPA designation.   • Assist with group compliance functions, including SARS VAT, EMP, and Provisional tax submissions.
  • Support company secretarial and statutory filings for entities (CIPC, COIDA, DOL, SARS).
  • Help design and implement internal control sheets for finance processes and assist during external audits, budget season, and B‑BBEE verification.
  • Maintain accurate registers (asset, employee, and risk) and update key company databases.
  • Provide payroll administration support and help maintain the HR suite of payroll software.
Job Experience and Skills Required

Education: Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) Degree in Accounting, Financial Management, or Internal Auditing (essential).

Studying toward or planning to register for SAIPA Articles (essential).

Experience: Ideally some exposure to accounting or finance through an internship, vacation work, or entry‑level position. Understanding of basic accounting principles, financial statements, and compliance processes.

Skills
  • Computer literacy in Pastel Accounting and Microsoft (especially Word and PowerPoint).
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and willingness to learn.
Non‑Negotiables
  • Must have completed a BCom degree qualifying for SAIPA articles.
  • A keen interest in compliance, financial controls, and audit preparation.
