Discovery Health Systems in Johannesburg is seeking a Junior Developer to translate business requirements into executable code and contribute to rapid software delivery. You will implement technical specifications, document changes, and collaborate with BA and Architects to resolve issues.

The role emphasizes learning-oriented problem solving, structured coding, and strong basic SDLC knowledge, with exposure to Java, SQL, and Oracle within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Matric with English and Mathematics.
• Relevant tertiary qualification (beneficial).
• One year or less experience in source code development.
• Process knowledge of SDLC, Unit testing, database structure design, technical change control.
• Technical knowledge of Java, Magic, SQL, Oracle, eBlogic, C, Cognos, XML, TopLink/Hibernate.

Responsibilities

• Translate the CRS and PRS into executable code without errors.
• Produce source code by applying DHS standards and referencing exposed sub processes.
• Update reference documentation and scheduling tool with progress.
• Document logic and comments inside code and database changes.
• Produce or update configuration files.
• Conduct unit testing and fix defects found.
• Review defects with BA and Architect and assist in testing.
