Job summary

ATS Client is seeking a Junior Data Engineer in Johannesburg to join a progressive tax and advisory business. You will work within an agile team to design data solutions, build ETL pipelines, and automate data workflows using KNIME, SQL, Python, and Java.

• Integrate and manage data from multiple internal and external sources using SQL, PostgreSQL, and cloud‑based technologies.
• Utilize Python and Java to build and optimize automation workflows and data‑processing solutions.
• Support the development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions using Power BI and Salesforce.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability across business systems.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practices in data engineering.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
• A strong academic record is essential.
• Candidates who have consistently achieved high academic results and demonstrated excellence in quantitative or technical disciplines will be highly regarded.
• Strong academic background with a passion for data and technology.
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or Microsoft SQL Server.
• Basic experience with Python and/or Java programming.
• Understanding of ETL concepts and data integration processes.
• Exposure to data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies is advantageous.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure is beneficial.
