Responsibilities

  • Manage the full conveyancing process from instruction to registration, including opening, maintaining, and closing conveyancing files.
  • Prepare, draft, and process all conveyancing documentation relating to property transfers and deceased estates.
  • Liaise with clients, estate agents, banks, bond attorneys, cancellation attorneys, the Deeds Office, the Master of the High Court, executors, and other stakeholders.
  • Attend to property transfers arising from deceased estates, ensuring all required documentation is complete and compliant.
  • Request, monitor, and follow up on rates clearances, levy clearances, transfer duty receipts, compliance certificates, and other outstanding documentation.
  • Coordinate document signing, lodge transfer documents for registration, monitor progress through to registration, and attend to all post-registration processes.
  • Maintain accurate records, provide regular updates to clients and stakeholders, and ensure compliance with conveyancing procedures and legal requirements.

Salary: R19 000 - R20 000 CTC per month, plus overtime (optional)

Requirements

  • Experience as a Conveyancing Transfer Secretary
  • Experience handling transfer files from instruction through to registration
  • Experience with Full Title and Sectional Title transfers
  • Experience with Deeds Office procedures and documentation
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple transfer matters and meet deadlines
  • Good communication skills and ability to liaise with clients, agents, attorneys and other stakeholders
  • 5+ years proven experience in Bond registrations
  • Experience dealing with the following banks is essential:
    • SA Home Loans
    • ABSA
    • FNB
    • Nedbank
    • Standard Bank
  • Strong understanding of the conveyancing process from instruction through to registration
  • Ability to manage matters independently and work effectively under pressure
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Deadline-driven with the ability to manage a high-volume workload
  • Excellent communication and client liaison skills
  • Strong attorney and bank liaison skills
  • Experience in Cancelations would be a bonus
  • Experience with Lexis Convey and E4

About the Role
In this role, you will be helping to provide legal practical guidance and market insight. You will be reviewing documents, undertaking legal research, drafting content and maintaining trackers. This is a 12-month fixed term role.
Responsibilities
+ Reviewing new and existing content for quality and legal accuracy, and making recommendations for process improvements
+ Monitoring of developments and inputting information to maintain trackers of consultations, cases and dates
+ Drafting practical guidance content (eg FAQs, practice notes, precedents, trackers, checklists, etc)
+ Conducting legal research and liaising with subject matter experts within the Practical Guidance practice area teams
+ Supporting the development and implementation of initiatives to grow and improve the Lexis+ offering
Requirements
+ Have a degree in Law, or equivalent experience
+ Experience and/or interest in Finance law (including Banking & Finance, Insolvency, Insurance and Financial Services) preferable
+ Comfortable working shift hours Monday-Friday, 10 AM-6 PM (June-Oct) and 11 AM-7 PM (Nov-March), SAST
+ Demonstrate an eye for detail and a quality oriented focus
+ Be able to demonstrate excellent research and writing skills
+ Have a good understanding of legal issues, procedures and content types
+ Be able to think creatively, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work to strict deadlines
