Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • Code B driver’s licence (manual transmission)
  • Registered as Traffic Officer or possess a National Department of Transport Basic Traffic Officer qualification (RTMC)
  • Qualified as a Municipal Police member (Municipal Police Basic Qualification)
  • Meet all requirements for appointment as a Municipal Police member as contained in Regulation 11 of the Regulations for Municipal Police Services
  • Computer literacy
  • Physically fit
  • No criminal record, no pending criminal cases or charges, and no conduct that may compromise integrity, suitability, or ability to perform the duties. Any criminal conviction, pending matter, or other circumstance that could negatively affect the reputation of the City of Cape Town or the applicant’s capacity to discharge responsibilities effectively will render the applicant ineligible for appointment.
Key Performance Areas
  • Assist with the enforcement of by‑laws and traffic regulations
  • Assist with all duties associated with the reduction of traffic congestion
  • Ensure the safety of all road users including pedestrians and cyclists
  • Create a safe environment for all inhabitants of and visitors to the City of Cape Town through effective crime prevention duties
  • Ensure an effective and efficient Policing, Traffic and Law Enforcement Service
  • Utilise the City’s EPIC or any other Safety & Security technology effectively
  • Keep abreast of all technological advancements within the operational environment and attend all training in the use of new technology as part of skills enhancements and improved service delivery
  • Coordinate and monitor the implementation of the directorates Workplace Skills Plan
