Role Overview
We are looking for a Junior CNC Operator to assist in the setup and operation of CNC machines. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a mechanical mindset, a strong eye for detail, and a desire to grow in a technical manufacturing environment.
Candidate Requirements
- Age Range: 18–25
- Education: Matric or equivalent; possibly enrolled in or completed a trade course
- Experience Level: Entry-level; may have completed an apprenticeship or informal training, or is willing to undergo training and skill development
- Personality Traits: Detail-oriented, reliable, safety-conscious, eager to learn
- Career Goals: Wants to build a career in manufacturing or engineering
- Skills: Basic mechanical understanding, ability to follow instructions, and teamwork
- Location: Based in or near Somerset West, or willing to commute
- Motivators: Stable income, hands-on work, opportunity to grow into a skilled technical role
About the Company
Our client is an established and growing business specializing in fully imported and custom-built refrigeration display solutions for retailers across Southern Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Load raw materials and run CNC programs to produce precision parts.
- Quality Control: Perform visual inspections and basic measurements to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and understand technical drawings to guide machining.
- Technical Support: Assist with machine setup, calibration, and minor maintenance.
- Workplace Safety: Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with supervisors and fellow operators to meet production goals.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- Technical Skills: Basic understanding of machining and CNC operations.
- Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and a good communicator.
- Experience: Apprenticeship, trade course, or on-the-job training preferred.
- Computer Skills: Basic literacy to operate CNC interfaces.
