Reporting To: Finance Manager / Operations Manager

Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and communicative Junior Bookkeeper who will also serve as an Escalations Clerk between our Operations and Finance teams. This dual-role position requires a candidate who not only possesses solid bookkeeping skills but also has the ability to identify financial risks, resolve operational billing issues, and ensure compliance—particularly with regard to VAT regulations. The ideal candidate will act as the critical link between the financial, operational and supplier arms of the business; ensuring accuracy, preventing losses, and driving effective solutions when issues arise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Bookkeeping Duties: Capture, process, and reconcile supplier invoices. Ensure all supplier invoices are VAT compliant according to South African Revenue Service (SARS) standards. Assist with month-end closing procedures and reconciliations. Maintain proper records of financial transactions and support documentation. Liaise with suppliers and internal departments regarding outstanding queries or discrepancies.
  • Escalations & Operations Support: Act as the primary escalation point for operations-related financial issues. Investigate invoice discrepancies, overcharges, or missing documentation. Identify actual and potential losses due to invoice errors or non-compliance. Proactively recommend and implement corrective actions to resolve financial issues and prevent recurrence. Collaborate with the operations team to improve invoice handling and communication processes. Track and report on recurring issues and work closely with the finance team to drive improvements.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Matric (required).
  • Diploma or certificate in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or related field (preferred).
  • 1–2 years' experience in a bookkeeping or finance support role.
  • Experience working with supplier invoices and VAT compliance.
  • Exposure to operations or administrative processes is advantageous.
