Junior Area Sales Manager

This position will report to the Strategic Sales Leader – Emerging Markets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to exceed assigned sales quotas for gas detection solutions across South Africa.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers across various industries, including chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, mining, manufacturing, utilities.
- Identify customer needs and present Industrial Scientific's gas detection solutions as the best fit for safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Manage a network of distributors and channel partners, ensuring their successful promotion and sales of our products.
- Deliver impactful sales presentations and technical seminars to educate potential and existing customers on the benefits of our gas detection systems.
- Negotiate and close subscription contracts with new and existing customers, ensuring adherence to company pricing and sales policies.
- Regularly travel within South Africa to meet customers and attend industry events.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as marketing, application engineering, and customer service to ensure a seamless customer experience.
- Participate in sales meetings, conferences, and trade shows to promote Industrial Scientific's solutions and build brand awareness.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the South African market dynamics, gas detection regulations, and competitor landscape.
- Utilize CRM and other sales tools effectively to track sales activity, generate reports, and forecast future sales performance.
- Provide ongoing technical and application support to customers, ensuring they leverage the full potential of our solutions.
- Prepare insightful sales reports and forecasts to support regional and national sales goals.
- Hold a valid South African driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within the territory.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (Non‑Negotiable)
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- 3-5 years of successful B2B sales experience, preferably within the industrial safety or gas detection industry.
- Proven track record of exceeding sales targets in a competitive environment.
- Strong understanding of gas detection technologies and their applications.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships with customers and partners at all levels.
- Self‑motivated, results‑oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience working in South Africa and a deep understanding of the local market.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED (Negotiable)
- Strong understanding of gas detection technology, safety regulations, and their application in the oil & gas sector.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Continuously develop and improve knowledge of the oil & gas industry, gas detection technology, and the local business landscape.
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote solutions and build brand awareness.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
- Required: Afrikaans.
- Required: English.
- Preferred: Xhosa, Zulu, Sotho.
COMPAENSATION
- Eligible for bonus as part of the total compensation package.
