Job description

RPO Recruitment is partnering with a leading mining company in Johannesburg to find a talented Junior Accountant to join their team of professionals.

Responsibilities

• Full accounts receivable cycle (including local & export sales, export documentation, debtors’ reconciliation, traffic workbook updates, letter of credit checks, etc.)
• Full accounts payable cycle, including cash flow forecasting, VAT and diesel refunds, SARB submissions, cashbook processing and banking functions
• Invoicing
  • Submit local sale invoices aligned with signed contracts
  • Check and confirm accuracy of export invoices against signed contracts
  • Prepare and review monthly debtor statements
• Payments
  • Follow up to ensure payments received within debtor terms and communicate exceptions
  • Submit required documentation to banks for incoming funds clearance (UCR Number)
  • Process all receipts from debtors into SAGE 300
  • Prepare weekly cash‑flow forecast of expected payments
• VAT, Diesel Refunds and SARS Audits
  • Compile, reconcile and submit VAT 201 returns monthly
  • Prepare documentation for SARS audits
  • Monitor receipt of VAT refunds and report to direct reports & CFO monthly
• Export and Local Sales
  • Update payments on the Traffic Workbook daily
  • Check and review letters of credit received from debtors for accuracy
  • Update monthly sales and costs on the Vessel Recon per shipment
• Export Documentation
  • Ensure export documentation is endorsed, signed and submitted on time
  • Liaise with trader on all export documentation requirements
• Accounts payable
  • Receipting and capturing all creditor invoices on Sage 300 daily
  • Reconciling the non‑stock clearing account monthly
  • Check reconciliations processed by mine creditor clerks
  • Load creditor payments into the banking system
• Cashbook
  • Capture all payments on Sage 300 daily
  • Check bank reconciliations against statements
• Banking
  • Verify banking details to load into system
  • Load payments (international and local) and file supporting documentation

Requirements

• BCom degree with preferable completed articles at a reputable auditing firm
• Minimum of 6-8 years’ experience in a related field
• Positive attitude, dependable, ethical, reliable, disciplined, and responsible
• Ability to work and deliver under pressure
• High degree of numeracy
• Professional verbal and written communication in English
• Communication and networking skills within the organization and externally
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
• Valid driver’s license code 8
