Overview

The Junior Accountant will provide support to the finance team by assisting with day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with statutory requirements, and timely reporting of two companies, Dentsu SSA and Dentsu Uganda. This role is ideal for a recently qualified or early-career accounting professional looking to gain hands-on experience.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Support
  • Assist with preparing and processing journals, including accruals and prepayments
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and perform reconciliations
  • Capture and review financial transactions accurately
Statutory & Compliance
  • Support Accountant and FM with SARS and URA queries and audits when required
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS (where applicable) and company policies
Accounts Payable & Receivable
  • Process supplier invoices and prepare payment schedules
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Assist with customer invoicing and debtor reconciliations
  • Follow up on outstanding debtors where necessary
Audit & Year-End Support
  • Assist with the preparation of audit files and supporting documentation
  • Support year-end financial processes and external auditors
General
  • Maintain accurate filing systems (electronic and manual)
  • Provide ad-hoc financial and administrative support to the finance team
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
  • Studying towards or completed BCom Accounting, National Diploma in Accounting, or similar
Experience
  • 0-2 years' experience in an accounting or finance role
  • Experience in the media industry is advantageous
Technical Skills
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with accounting software - Microsoft Navision is advantageous
