Junior Accountant job vacancy in Pretoria.

We are seeking a diligent and motivated Junior Accountant to support our finance department. This entry-level position is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day financial transactions, record-keeping, and general accounting duties to ensure accurate financial control and reporting within the company.

Salary: R10,000 per month.

Key Responsibilities:

The Junior Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Bookkeeping and Data Entry: Capturing and processing daily financial transactions, including sales invoices, purchase orders, payments, and receipts, into the accounting software (e.g., Pastel/Sage).
  • Creditors and Debtors: Assisting with the management of the creditors and debtors ledgers, including reconciling statements and following up on outstanding invoices.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Performing daily and monthly bank and cash reconciliations to ensure accuracy between the bank statements and the general ledger.
  • Expense Management: Processing staff claims, petty cash, and corporate card expenses, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
  • Administrative Support: Filing and archiving financial documentation, managing correspondence, and providing general administrative support to the Financial Manager.
  • Reporting Assistance: Assisting in the preparation of month-end closing procedures and supporting documentation for management reporting.
  • Inventory Support: Liaising with the operations team to reconcile inventory counts and stock valuation as required.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A relevant Tertiary Qualification (Diploma or Degree) in Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping is required.
  • 0-1 year of practical experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles (e.g., double-entry bookkeeping).
  • Experience with a recognised accounting software package (e.g., Pastel, Sage, QuickBooks) is highly advantageous.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Excellent numerical ability and strict attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in South Africa.
